UTM Hosts SWU Delegation from Thailand, Advancing International Collaboration and Tourism Education Excellence
MACAU, September 18 - The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) welcomed a delegation from Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), Thailand, to its Mong-Há Campus for a two-day professional development programme entitled "Growth Mindset and Design Thinking for Work Improvement in a Changing World" between 14 and 15 September. The programme served as a platform for knowledge exchange, institutional learning and professional networking, further strengthening ties between the two universities and reflecting UTM's commitment to advancing international collaboration in higher education and tourism development.
Organised by UTM's Faculty of Creative Tourism and Intelligent Technologies; and Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training, the programme brought together academic and administrative professionals to explore innovative approaches to organisational excellence, design thinking and institutional development. Through interactive discussions and the sharing of best practices, participants gained valuable insights into how higher education institutions can thrive in an increasingly dynamic and interconnected world.
The programme featured industry and academic perspectives designed to encourage innovation and continuous improvement. On the first day, Mr. Peta Ho, Assistant Vice President of Training & Development of Galaxy Entertainment Group, shared practical applications of design thinking drawn from both integrated resort operations and higher education settings, highlighting the importance of people-centred innovation in creating meaningful experiences and driving organisational success.
A second session, entitled "Partners in Progress: Shared Insights, Shared Growth", delivered by UTM faculty and administrative team members, provided participants with an overview of UTM's experience in building global partnerships, maintaining internationally recognised quality assurance standards and fostering administrative excellence. The session encouraged open dialogue and mutual learning between representatives of the two universities.
The programme concluded with fruitful exchanges between the two universities and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration. UTM looks forward to expanding its global network and creating more opportunities for knowledge exchange that advance tourism education and support the development of future industry leaders.
